Seminar on Macroeconomic Indicators

An in-house seminar on Macroeconomic Indicators had been organized on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the conference room of Unnayan Onneshan-The Innovators. The seminar began with a brief presentation from Jabin Tahmina Haque, research assistant of the organisation, who has submitted a snapshot of the trend of macro economic issues focusing on the growth of economy and further existing situation of external sector in Bangladesh namely remittance, export, import etc. The presentation is just a preview as a part of its upcoming publication “Quarterly Economic Update” which in general surrounds the macroeconomic performance for a quarter. Mr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Chairmen of the Organisation, chaired the seminar. He prescribed to design a framework of updating macro economic issues, found missing, which would be turned towards quarterly economic update and also provided an well thought-out guidelines for finalization of the quarterly publication including macroeconomic projection for the next fiscal year based on the current economic performance.Iqbal Ahmed, Senior Research Associate of economic policy unit, also agreed with the Chairman and suggested to conduct a structured  economic outlook by analyzing and linking the economic factors more specifically. The seminar, finally, ended with the comments of other participants who shared their views and suggested to formulate a momentous macroeconomic update that would be substantial to have an ongoing economic trend along with future economic prediction indispensable for economic policy.
